Apple, according to me, has a history of quality over quantity. Yes, this could damage the sales of iPod Touch, but I predict, Apple still will be the king of Media Player world in a year

Apple, almost 2-years after, wrapped off with their iPod Touch device, Microsoft is all set to roll out their Zune HD into the mix. To my surprise, it comes with a few striking specifications, and this arrival from the arsenal of an iPhone fanboy.

So let’s get to know about its glaring specs.

Screen: The latest Zune HD comes included with OLED Screen, whereas iPod Touch’s X-gen makes use of LCD. Quite anew to the mobile market, OLED boasts of less power usage for a longer battery life. I may have to provide the screen technology and maybe even the battery life to Microsoft’s Zune HD. Aspect ratio is complemented, but resolution and screen size is a little larger on the iPod Touch still.

Features: Wifi is even then complemented as the Zune always has come up with Wifi, but the big break for Microsoft is the HD Radio. Lots of have been on the lookout for an FM receiver internally in their iPod as I have been doing but Apple didn’t ever answer. Microsoft has stepped up the request and brought about one more USP (unique selling point) with HD Radio.

Software: Talking about the software that in my own view makes or mar a Media Player, I can say without beating about the bush that Microsoft for the initial six months won’t be equal to the software on the iPod Touch.

The Appstore developer community size is astonishing and Microsoft has got a lot up its sleeves to do if they like to vie. Zune HD Screenshots gives the impression of sprinting a revised Zune OS which is expected but according to the grapevines, this is supposed to be the latest aspect of Windows Mobile.

Is a Zune Phone expected to come?

Pricing: Taking full advantage of shining publicly, Microsoft is expected to price the Zune HD $99 not more than the iPod Touch 2g’s equal capacity.

But still, Apple, according to me, has a history of quality over quantity. Yes, this could damage the sales of iPod Touch, but I predict, Apple still will be the king of Media Player world in a year.

Plus, don’t forget the slated (June 8th) launch of WWDC. You can never know what Apple has to wrap off, which could just up-show Microsoft again.

In my prior post, there was no word on Microsoft’s much-whispered Zune HD’s pricing details, but it was hinted at the same time the product will be rolled out in fall. However, now the Redmond-based giant has confirmed the launch of its much-rumored Zune HD. A Microsoft Guru – Paul Thurrott, on Zune Forum, is reported to have said that the Zune HD is slated to be shipped on September 5, 2009.

I don’t know how Paul got hinted for this secretive release date as no official announcement has been made by the company.

The buzz around the tech-world hints that the company may pre-pone the plan to introduce the much-awaited media player. So, possibly, it’s good news for the consumers who are in quest of the device to hit the shelves – pre-fall relates to the assumed availability period of the shipment. Even there is no word as to its pricing.

Let’s keep aside the indefinite details and note down the definite ones. The Zune HD comes featured with a 3.3-inch OLED touchscreen and gives support to Wi-Fi and HD Radio. Users can use it to play 720p HD video with the help of a docking station accessory.

Plus, I will let you know of its official availability details as and when it comes.
