The 11th day of May be known and remembered for many important events in History but this very day in the year 1951 brought about a significant development in the world of computers. Earlier computers used to be bulky devices weighing almost 100 pounds and were used solely for and by the military.
This was a time when information was retrieved from cathode rays. But then there arose a need for a faster computer so that real-time flight simulations could be run by the Navy.
